Strawberry Picking

Spring in Virginia brings yummy fruit, especially strawberries! Since there wasn't a field trip to the berry patch this year and we weren't able to go with the Moms Club, I decided to take the kids strawberry picking by myself. I mean, how much trouble can two kids get into in the middle of a giant field of berries????

The weather was a little cold but JGray and Delia were ready to help Mommy pick some strawberries. Or should I say that JGray was ready to look for bugs and Delia was ready to eat any strawberry she could get her hands on. At the beginning, she was eating them as fast as I was picking them! I ended up having to put some directly into her small basket so she would leave me alone :-)

We picked for about 45 minutes (we collected about 4 quarts of berries) and then played on the small playground before heading home. Both kids were exhausted and were down for naps by 12:30!

Here are some pictures from our morning at the berry patch:

We had just arrived at the berry patch and Delia was already eating strawberries!

Eating another strawberry. She didn't care if they were covered in dirt or straw!

Delia was still eating strawberries. Notice that she is covered in strawberry juice!

Awwww, kisses for big brother

And hugs for big brother too
