Today we took advantage of the holiday (who knew school and work were closed for Columbus Day?!) and went on a Schmitt family adventure.  We took the kids to the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News, about 1 hour 15 minutes from home.  It's a small museum all about the wildlife in Virginia broken down by region--from the rivers to the mountains to the caves.

The older two have been here once, but it was Henry's first time and boy did he have fun!  Since it's a small museum, he was able to crawl around and explore.  He loved the fish tanks, in particular the tank that included the giant loggerhead turtle.  He stood there for almost 5 minutes, clapping and smiling.  JGray's favorite part was the wolves (who were active since they had just eaten) and Delia liked the jellyfish.

Of course Henry fell asleep for maybe 10 minutes on the ride home.  What is it with our kids and their inability to sleep in the car?!  I can barely stay awake, but these kids are wide awake for hours.  Good thing he was pretty good natured about his no-nap afternoon.
